Switzerland chooses Timebelle!

Last night the Swiss national final took place, where six acts took to the stage all hoping to fly the flag for Switzerland at this year’s Eurovision in Kyiv. The national selection began back in September, where songwriters and composers were encouraged to submit their songs. From that stage, an expert jury of 21 selected the six songs that we saw on stage for the final.

The show was hosted by Sven Epiney, who is a well-known TV and radio host who also does the commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest. During the show, the audience saw Sebalter perform his new song Weeping Willow.

The six acts that performed were:

  • Freschta – Gold

  • Ginta Biku – Cet Air La

  • Michèle – Two Faces

  • Nadya – The Fire in the Sky

  • Shana Pearson – Exodus

  • Timebelle – Apollo

The public chose the act that they thought would best represent them, and that ended up being Timebelle with the song Apollo!

About Timebelle

Timebelle is made up of lead vocalist Miruna Manescu, drummer Samuel Forster and multi-instrumentalist Emanuel Daniel Andriescu. The band originates in the Swiss city of Bern, although both Miruna and Emanuel have Romanian roots.

This is not the first time they have participated in the Swiss national final, as they took part back in 2015 with the song Singing About Love.
